Meet Our Staff
Tyler graduated from Palmetto High School and signed with USC Salkehatchie. He has 10+ years of coaching experience in all phases of the game. His coaching experience includes Palmetto High School and numerous teams with top-level organizations. Coach Knight has mentored high school and collegiate level athletes with the Driveline Program. He is Driveline certified, where he improves pitchers' velocity, pitching mechanics, and teaching the importance of arm care.
Coach Knight has a passion for baseball and a desire to make a positive impact on young athletes. He began the 864 Select organization to bring something more to the community. He wants to help develop the talent in our area. He wants to promote growth and foster competition. Since starting 864 Select, Coach Knight has created a supportive environment for players and families. He is extremely proud of all of the 864 Select players and what they have accomplished so far. He cannot wait to see where it will all go from here!
Matthew lecroy
Coaches Mentor
864 Select Baseball is thrilled to have former Major League player and experienced coach, Matthew Lecroy as our programs Coaches Mentor. With a career spanning professional playing, managing, and mentoring at the highest levels of baseball, LeCroy brings an invaluable wealth of knowledge and leadership to our coaches.
Matthew LeCroy’s baseball journey is nothing short of inspiring. As a former player for the Minnesota Twins and Washington Nationals, LeCroy built a reputation as a power hitter and dedicated teammate. After his playing days, he transitioned seamlessly into coaching, serving as a Minor League manager and Major League bullpen coach for the Washington Nationals. Most recently, he has been leading the Rochester Red Wings, the Triple-A affiliate of the Nationals, as their manager.
In his role with 864 Select Baseball, LeCroy will focus on mentoring our coaching staff, providing guidance on:
* Leadership Development: Helping coaches refine their leadership style to inspire young athletes.
* Technical Insights: Sharing advanced strategies and techniques to elevate our program’s game.
* Player Development: Offering tools to help coaches maximize the potential of our players
* Team Dynamics: Teaching best practices for fostering unity and resilience on and off the field.
LeCroy’s involvement underscores 864 Select Baseball’s commitment to excellence, not just for our players but also for our coaches. By investing in mentorship at the coaching level, we aim to ensure that our young athletes are guided by leaders who are knowledgeable, confident, and equipped to teach the game the right way.
Matthew was very blessed to be coached by some of the best coaches in the world throughout his career, from Little League all the way to the Big Leagues. Mentoring the coaches at 864 Select gives him the opportunity to pass along what he has learned over the years to the next generation of coaches and players.
Chaz Knight
Director of Player Development
Chaz Knight is in his second year as a coach at 864 Select. A graduate of Palmetto High School in Williamston, SC, Chaz brings a strong background as both a player and mentor to the program.
Chaz played one year of JUCO baseball at USC Union before transferring to Erskine College, where he is now a senior competing at the Division II Level. During his time at Erskine, Chaz has been part of two Conference Carolinas Championship-winning teams, showcasing his dedication to success both on and off the field.
As a coach, Chaz is passionate about helping players maximize their talents and strengths. He focuses on developing fundamental skills while building confidence and fostering a love for the game. His goal is to prepare young athletes not only for the next level of baseball but also for success in life.
Chaz is proud to be a part of the 864 Select family and looks forward to guiding the next generation of players toward achieving their goals.
Chase McElrath
Pitching Instructor/Youth Coach
Chase McElrath brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the organization, combining a standout playing career with years of dedication to teaching the game. A product of Crescent High School, Chase excelled as a four-year varsity player, earning All-Region honors for his consistent performance and leadership on the field. His high school career laid the foundation for his success at the collegiate level.
At Souther Wesleyan University (SWU), Chase continued to shine, earning recognition as the Conference Freshman of the Year for his immediate impact on the team. Over his four years at SWU, he established himself as one of the programs most reliable and dominant players.
As a coach, he specializes in pitching instruction and hitting, focusing on the development of sound mechanics, mental toughness, and game awareness. He is passionate about helping young athletes grow not only in their technical skills but also in their confidence and ability to perform under pressure. He believes in building players who can compete at a high level while understanding the importance of hard work, discipline, and teamwork.
Brad McKee
High School Age Coach
Brad McKee, from Williamston, SC, has been coaching baseball since around 2004. He has worked with players of all ages, from 4-16, across recreation, high school, and travel baseball programs. With nearly two decades of experience (with a few breaks), Brad brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for teaching the game to young athletes.
As a player, Brad had the privilege of learning under two outstanding coaches. He played five years at Belton Honea Path High School and four years at Anderson College under Coach Joe Miller. These experiences shaped his understanding of the game and his coaching philosophy.
Brad is committed to teaching kids to play baseball the right way, preparing them to confidently try out for high school teams. His focus is on helping players understand that talent alone isn't enough-hard work and dedication will always outperform raw ability.
Off the field, Coach McKee is passionate about instilling life lessons, ensuring his players grow not only as an athlete but as individuals.
Brad chose to coach for 864 Select because of the organization's unwavering commitment to its players. He values their approach of standing behind their athletes, fostering stability, and focusing on development rather than constant roster changes.
Brady Davenport
High School Age Coach
Brady Davenport is excited to begin his coaching career with 864 Select. As a former collegiate baseball player, he brings valuable firsthand experience and knowledge of the game. Although this is his first time coaching, his passion for teaching and developing young players is evident.
Brady's philosophy is rooted in master the fundamentals of the game. He emphasizes the importance of excelling in the little things, such as routine plays.
Outside of baseball, Brady enjoys spending quality time with this friends and family. He chose to join 864 Select because of its reputation for success and commitment to player development. Brady is eager to contribute to the organization's mission and help shape the next generation of young athletes.
Brandon Dill
Youth Coach
Brandon Dill, from Williamston, SC, brings over six years of coaching experience to the 864 Select coaching staff. He has coached 3 years of recreational baseball and is now beginning his 5th Season with 864 Select. His passion for the game and dedication to player development make him a valuable asset to the program.
Though Brandon's playing career ended in high school, he has remained active in the sport, channeling his love for baseball into coaching and mentoring your athletes.
As a coach, Brandon's ultimate goal is to help the next generation grow and succeed both on and off the field. He strives to instill confidence in his players, helping them realize their potential.
Outside of baseball, Brandon enjoys traveling, attending concerts, and spending time with family and friends.
Brandon chose to join 864 Select because of the organization's commitment to tis players and coaches. He appreciates how the program provides the tools and support to everyone involved. Brandon is proud to contribute to a team that prioritizes player growth and success.
Peyton Burton
High School Coach
Peyton Burton, from Belton, SC, brings energy, passion and a strong baseball background to the 864 Select coaching staff. Peyton played for the Palmetto Mustangs throughout middle and high school, helping his team succeed on and off the field. He also contributed to the program by assisting with JV practices and participating in numerous Palmetto Baseball camps.
Currently, Peyton is in his freshman year, playing collegiate baseball at Anderson University. There, he is continuing to refine his skills and deepen his knowledge of the game.
As a coach, Peyton will be dedicated to helping the players improve their game and develop the skills necessary to compete at higher levels. He values hard work and expects his players to give 110%. Peyton also loves to win so he will foster a winning mentality while emphasizing the importance of teamwork and character both on and off the field.
Outside of baseball, Peyton enjoys hunting, spending time with family and friends and cheering for the Clemson Tigers. He is a proud Christian and family-oriented individual. He believes in leading by example and feels as though he would make a strong impact on the players in the 864 Select Organization.
He chose to coach for 864 Select because of the organization's commitment to helping young players develop their skills and reach their full potential. He is excited to instill in them the values of hard work, sportsmanship, and a love for baseball.
Ryan Burton
Youth Coach
Ryan Burton, from Anderson, SC, brings over a decade of coaching experience across multiple sports, including baseball, basketball, flag football, tackle football, and soccer. Over the past 10 years, he has coached approximately 50 teams through YMCA and recreational leagues. His baseball coaching experience includes working with High Heat 8U and the Carolina Blue Jays 11U and 12U teams.
Ryan's coaching philosophy focuses on teaching kids to play baseball with precision and a small margin for error while fostering mental toughness. His ultimate goal is to develop will-rounded athletes who are not only skilled ballplayers but also respectful and upstanding young men.
Family is Ryan's top priority, but coaching has been his passion for -the past decade. He dedicates himself to coaching year-round but also enjoys working out and fishing in his free time.
Ryan chose to join the 864 Select coaching staff because his oldest son is on the 13U team. He was impressed by the organization's commitment to player development and is excited to contribute to its mission of helping young athletes reach their full potential.
